Visitors can explore the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, ride thrilling roller coasters, enjoy live performances, and indulge in tasty treats.

With so much to do and see, visiting Universal Studios Orlando promises an exciting and memorable experience.

You can visit Universal Studios Orlando in a day.

But, with 31 rides spread across the theme parks—Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure—one can only cover the main ones.

You may choose to visit only one park. In that case, buy the 1-Park, 1-Day ticket

Universal Studios Florida is generally considered better for shows and entertainment, whereas Islands of Adventure is for thrill rides.

Universal Studios Florida offers many live performances, including the well-known Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Diagon Alley.

Guests may watch the wand-choosing ritual at Ollivander’s and take in the breathtaking Frog Choir performance.

Also, live artists are included in the park’s attractions, such as the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster, where visitors can select their music while riding.

On the other hand, Islands of Adventure is renowned for its exhilarating rides.

The Incredible Hulk Coaster, which can reach up to 67 miles per hour, and the renowned Dueling Dragons Coaster are just two of the park’s many roller coasters.

Several water rides are available in the park, including Jurassic Park River Adventure and Dudley Do-Ripsaw Right’s Falls.

Follow this one-day Universal Studios Orlando itinerary covering rides, attractions, restaurants, shows, and more to utilize your day.

However, a few suggestions would help you save time during your one-day visit.

  • Theme park hours usually vary depending on the season. Check the theme park hours for the day you plan to visit.
  • If you plan to stay at an in-house hotel, you may qualify for early park admission and gain access to some selected rides in one of the parks an hour before the park officially opens.
  • Additionally, express passes are available online. These let you skip the regular lines and save tons of time.
  • Be sure to download the official Universal Orlando Resort mobile app to get all the information on rides, virtual lines, maps, restaurants, and more.

With these things in mind, let’s begin with the 1-day itinerary at Universal Studios Orlando.

Note: We have not included the Volcano Bay water park in this one-day Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure itinerary. The water park itself requires an entire day.

Let’s dive in and learn more!

To save time at the front gate, purchase your 1-day park-to-park entry tickets online.

Arrive at least 30 to 45 minutes before the park’s opening time, even if you don’t have access to early park admission.

Visit Universal Studios Florida first.

By visiting Universal Studios Florida first, you can make the most of your time, experience the park’s famous attractions with lower wait times, and immerse yourself in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

The most popular attractions at Universal Studios Florida are the Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley and Despicable Me Minion Mayhem.

These two immersive experiences’ capacity to teleport visitors into many realms make them famous.

While Despicable Me Minion Mayhem delivers a fun and engaging trip with familiar characters, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley lets fans into Harry Potter’s realm.

The crowd usually visits these places first thing in the morning. As a result, we recommend going on other rides.

These rides are Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, Transformers, Revenge of the Mummy, The Simpsons Ride, Men in Black, E.T. Adventure, Kang, and Kodos Twirl ‘n’ Hurl.

Learn more about the rides at the two theme parks here

Some rides open later than expected. Plan to return later if time permits. For details on any delayed openings, check the app.

Use virtual lines at Fast & Furious Supercharged and Race Through New York, starring Jimmy Fallon.

Virtual lines allow you to reserve a ride time on select attractions using the official Universal Studios Orlando app.

Restaurants are usually busy from around 11 am to 1 pm. You can order meals and drinks on the go using the official app.

Talking of shows, Celestina Warbeck & The Banshees, Bourne Stuntacular, and Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show are some of the few shows to see at Universal Studios Orlando

The shows occur regularly throughout the day, so make time for the one you want to see between rides.

Plan to spend around an hour exploring The Wizarding World of Harry Potter— Diagon Alley—before heading to Islands of Adventure.

Plan a meal for dinner at one of Universal Orlando’s many restaurants.

There are two night-time shows you can see:

  • The Night-Time Lights at Hogwarts Castle (Islands of Adventure)
  • Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration (Universal Studios Florida)

The shows only run on specific nights, and the timing varies according to the day and season.

You can attend the show scheduled for the day you visit and plan your evening accordingly.

Options are mentioned abruptly, so add a line to maintain the flow.

Option 1

Running Show: The Night-Time Lights at Hogwarts Castle

Make your way to Universal’s Islands of Adventure by hopping on the Hogwarts Express from King’s Cross Station.

Jurassic World VelociCoaster, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures, Motorbike Adventure, and The Incredible Hulk Coaster are popular rides worth checking out in the Islands of Adventure. Why is it popular?

Finally, you can enjoy the fantastic light and sound show, “The Night-Time Lights at Hogwarts Castle,” in Hogsmeade.

Option 2

Running Show: Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration

First, visit the rides at Islands of Adventure to end your evening with Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration.

You can make the most of your time, experience the park’s most thrilling attractions, and finish the day on a high note with the spectacular Cinematic Celebration show by going to the Islands of Adventure’s rides first.

Then, take the Hogwarts Express from Hogsmeade Station, which is usually a seven-minute ride and less crowded than King’s Cross Station.

Select a nice spot and enjoy the “colossal celebration of music, water, and light.”

2-Day Itinerary

For a two-day visit to Universal Studios Orlando, we recommend choosing a 2-park 2-day park-to-park ticket.

This will provide access to both theme parks—Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

We will not cover Volcano Bay in this 2-day itinerary for Universal Studios Orlando 2022.

Get there as soon as possible.

Visit Universal Studios Florida first.

Head straight to the popular rides in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter—Diagon Alley—if you can access early park admission.

You can attend multiple shows, depending on how well you time them.

If you’re with kids, try Seuss Landing. Plus, it offers a wonderful overview of the park; sunset is the perfect time to visit.

You can try authentic Mexican food at Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food in CityWalk or Thunder Falls Terrace if you’re craving meat.

There are various other shops at Universal Orlando to purchase souvenirs and such.

Treat yourself to a Butterbeer at the Leaky Cauldron.

You can’t leave The Wizarding World of Harry Potter without trying at least one of its many variations— frozen, hot, ice cream, etc.

To conclude, two days will give you plenty of time to see all the major attractions.

But if you need more than 2 days and want to explore all the rides, including water rides, attractions, and shows at all the parks, opt for the promo ticket

3-Day Itinerary

Most visitors typically book a multi-day park admission ticket to access the parks during their week-long stay in Orlando.

If you want to see and do everything at Universal Studios, three days are the best time, and you won’t have to bother with a complicated itinerary.

With the 3-day itinerary Universal Studios Orlando, you can thoroughly explore all the popular attractions and shows at the three parks.

On the third day, visit Volcano Bay. You can spend a whole day here if you enjoy swimming and water slides.

Krakatau Aqua Coaster, Maku Puihi Round Raft Rides, Honu Ika Moana, and Ko’okiri Body Plunge are the most popular rides in the water park.

If you still need to, return to the theme parks to see what you missed on the first two days.

Catch any shows that you missed, purchase some character merchandise or souvenirs, or meet your favorite characters in character encounters.

The Raptor Encounter in Jurassic Park, located in Islands of Adventure, is one of the best character encounters you cannot miss.
