Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls

Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls is a log flume ride that strives to be different from your usual water slides.

It is thrilling yet family-friendly and gives you the same adrenaline rush as a roller coaster or dark ride.

The ride gets its name from Dudley Do-Right, one of the mounties.

This is one of the original rides at Islands of Adventure. It’s been standing since day one.

Journey with Dudley Do-Right through the ups and downs of the water and brace for impact as you take a massive drop.

Toon Lagoon – The Aqua Stop

You will find Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls in Toon Lagoon. This island is the center of all water-based rides in the amusement park.

The fun in this area is not limited to Dudley Do Right’s Ripsaw Falls; you can find a lot more in this island-themed-after cartoon and comic characters from King Features Syndicate and Jay Ward.

It features other water-based attractions that have also been there since the opening of Islands of Adventure.

Apart from the rides and play areas, Toon Lagoon houses dining establishments and merchandise stores.

Ride thrilling and amusing water rides, enjoy delightful food and take home your favorite merchandise at the Toon Lagoon.

Ride Queue

The queue area takes guests past Snidely Whiplash’s hideout. It is a place that spoofs popular movies like Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, The Silence of the Lambs, Three Men and a Baby, etc.

The guests then pass a talking bear head and a beaver head on a wall. This is a parody of a ride at Univesal’s competitor parks.

In the queue, a fictional cartoon called ‘Ripsaw Falls’ plays on a black-and-white screen.

The Islands of Adventure Dudley Do Right’s Ripsaw Falls story begins with the abduction of Nell Fenwick.

The ride will be a mission with Dudley Do-Right to save Nell from Snidely’s grasp.

Ride Experience

The Islands of Adventure Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls attraction is more intense than Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges.

While still suitable for younger attendants and adults, it features stronger movements and a tall drop, among other features.

With Dudley Do Right’s Ripsaw Falls Universal Studios Orlando boasts another great water ride in their impressive collection in this category.

Guests have a seat in the log as the ride begins. It enters a Splash Mountain parody room with music playing.

The log turns right as the guests see Dudley riding his horse named…well, Horse backward and up the slope.

Snidely is escaping with a kidnapped Nell in tow, laughing as he runs away in a mine cart down on the other side.

The guests are then taken outdoors on the log and enter Wontyabe Mine. Dudley remarks to his pet horse that he can’t see a thing.

The guests can see a bear giving chase to Dudley and Horse. They can also see Snidely tying Nell to the rail tracks, Horse and Inspector Fenwick have also suffered the same fate.

Guests then enter a cave and hear a train approaching. They can see the engine’s light and as it goes off, the guests drop into an airtime hill and splash.

The log then travels to the outdoors again. Snidely and Dudley are tussling as Nell is tied to a log approaching a buzzsaw.

After a few more movements, the guests enter Snidely’s lair. Things have turned around as Nell shoots Snidley out of a cannon.

Dudley celebrates this apparent victory by placing his foot on what turns out to be a dynamite plunger.

This sends the guests plunging 75 feet down. They land in a dynamite shack. It explodes when the log is under it and the guests are sprayed with water.

After one more up-and-down movement, the guests dropped into the splash pool and turned towards the nine hoses.

This is where spectators can spray the guests with water. As the ride progresses, the next scene is in the Alottapoopoo Island Prison, where Snidely has been caught.

He’s trying to gain the prison keys from a beaver. This is a parody of a ride at Disney Parks.

The last scene shows Dudley being awarded a medal by Inspector Fenwick for his bravery in saving Nell.

The Mountie has done it. He sees Nell walking towards him expecting a thank you, but she goes to Horse instead; it turns out she is thanking Horse.

The Dudley Do Right’s Ripsaw Falls Islands of Adventure ride ends with Dudley Do-Right’s theme playing in the background.

Height Restrictions

Dudley Do Right’s Ripsaw Falls height restriction is set at a minimum of 44 inches. The ride is suitable for most – teens, adults, and tweens all enjoy the adventure with Dudley.

As with most rides at Universal Orlando, riders under 48 inches require someone to supervise them on the ride.

You can use the Universal Express Pass on this ride.

Ride Design/Info

Dudley Do Right’s Ripsaw Falls Orlando is advertised as part flume ride, part coaster due to the drop similar to a coaster.

Fun Fact: There is also a People Dryer that dries you off faster after the ride. You can purchase your entry into it if you wish to dry off quickly.

The drop is 75 m and the log reaches speeds of 45 miles per hour. The maximum vertical angle you will experience in this ride is 50 degrees.

Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls ride lasts for 5 minutes and 30 seconds. This experience is sure to get you wet.

Ride it last or follow up the Mountie-themed ride with a trip to roller coasters to dry off. Ponchos and other commodities that may be needed for this water slide are available at shops.

There are lockers to store your stuff in for your commodities before getting on the logs.

However, it is best to come prepared and bring the materials from home if you plan on riding Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls.

The ride is well-liked by the guests and critics. It is praised for its mixture of features that entertain the riders and give them a taste of a dark ride, coaster and a log flume all at the same time.

With Dudley Do Right’s Ripsaw Falls, Universal Islands of Adventure provides a varied and fun experience that can be enjoyed by younger as well as elderly visitors.

Some other good things about the ride include the mini-drops along the way before you make a big splash and the unpredictable and amusing sprays along the way.

The story of the ride is a fun bonus if you know who Dudley is but even if you don’t, you can just focus on the ride and still have fun.

The weaknesses most riders and critics pointed out are the long wait times and an uncomfortable queue.
